Stud partitions and attic trap doors

Share

Stud Partitions

Junctions between stud partitions and ceilings, external walls etc. should be given careful consideration to ensure no air leaks are present. If gaps occur on-site, it is recommended to fill these gaps with a compressible sealant to ensure continuity of the air barrier. The sealant also has the advantage of absorbing movement.

Attic trap doors

There should be no gaps between the attic trap door and its frame, and between the frame and the supporting joists. Attic trap doors should be fitted with a draught sealing strip; before installation is complete, it is wise to ensure that the door is making a proper seal with the strip.
