Air Leakage

Building stage considerations

Share

Minimizing air leakage must be considered at 3 main stages of the building:

  1. Design

  2. Pre-construction

  3. Construction

It is important that checklists and details are completed and assessed at these stages to ensure continuity and what has been designed as an effective system for minimizing air leakage is such. Something that must be remembered is that it is easier and more cost effective to design, coordinate, communicate, and quality control correctly to achieve a maximum air permeability of 7 m^3^/hm^2^ than to carry out remedial works after the construction is finished and the air permeability test has indicated a non-conformance.
