Air barrier and elements continuity
The key to achieving a successful air barrier is to ensure continuity between the elements. Construction drawings should always be marked with the air barrier line; this should follow the internal perimeter of insulation in the walls, floors and roofs. The line should be unbroken: breaks indicate areas where the air barrier may not be complete and will need to be examined. The air barrier should be constructed from the materials and elements previously outlined.
Where required, refer to the Acceptable Construction Details (ACDs) for assistance. The ACDs show the air barrier as a bold dark blue line.
